Are you Ego-lifting?

Are you Ego-lifting?

Have you heard of ego lifting? Ego lifting is when an individual strives to build muscle mass by lifting more than they usually could. But how do you know if you are ego lifting? Here are some indications that would signal you that are probably ego-lifting.

  1. 1RM (1 Rep Max) - 1RM is when you strive to lift as heavy as you can and only doing 1 repetition. 1RM by nature is dangerous and it is usually practiced by professional power lifters. 1RM does improve strength but you would not be able to grow muscle mass if you’re lifting super heavy all the time.

  2. Wrong Form - When carrying too heavy, you may not be able to focus on proper form. Without proper form and full range of motion, you will not be able to achieve hypertrophy. You may also experience the lack of control. All of which mentioned above can potentially cause injuries.

  3. Unusual pains - When feeling pains and muscle burns, it could indicate that you may have stressed the muscle too much. This is usually a bad sign as there could be an inflammation

We all strive to be a better version of ourselves, constantly challenging ourselves to do better and be better. It feels amazing to be able to crush your Personal Records but do practice and workout safely so as to not cause any injuries.
